SA046 Junior Desktop System Administrator

ADNET is seeking an entry level Junior Desktop System Administrator for a position at NASA.  The position will support the Atmospheric Science Laboratories in the Earth Sciences Division of the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, Maryland.  The candidate will join a dedicated team responsible for maintaining the desktop and laptop Windows and Mac systems used by the scientists and staff. The candidate will work directly with the scientists and staff, supporting them on-site and off-site with the variety of issues that arise, and ensuring the systems comply with Agency security requirements.

They will provide exceptional user support, including but not limited to:

  • Provisioning and management of macOS and Windows systems
  • User account management, including configuring new accounts, password resets, troubleshooting user login, profile, and permission issues
  • Troubleshoot operating system and application errors, and support user requests, as part of a team using a ticket system
  • ability to adapt to an ever-changing enivonment
  • team-orientated, with a customer Service background.
  • willingness to fit into a dynamic environment, and learn and adapt accordingly

Required qualifications:

  • At least one year of Windows system support experience
  • Familiarity with macOS systems
  • Ability to configure and maintain backups and perform restore tasks
  • Strong prioritization, problem solving, diagnosis and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience supporting computer users in a help desk environment 
  • familiarity with Group Policies and Active Directory
  • Strong communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship

Desired qualifications:

  • Some familiarity with Linux systems
  • Familiarity with computer security and Government security standards
  • Experience with two factor authentication, especially SmartCard/PIV based authentication
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users 
  • Scripting knowledge, PowerShell, bash PERL, Python, etc.
  • Experience with Office 365 and Big Fix
