IT021 Agile Product Owner
We have an opening on the NASA’s Space and Earth Science Data Analysis (SESDA) contract for an Agile Product Owner supporting NASA Science Mission Directorate Cloud (SMDC) in the Computational and Information Sciences and Technology Office (CISTO) at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD. The position is fully remote although occasional in-person meetings and conference attendances would be required.
The Agile Product Owner (APO) for the Science Cloud Infrastructure Team is responsible for driving the delivery of high-value cloud infrastructure solutions that align with stakeholder needs and the organization’s strategic goals. The APO will collaborate closely with Science Cloud stakeholders, architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing management of Science Cloud Infrastructure services. This role will own the backlog for Science Cloud Infrastructure products and services, work with Science Cloud stakeholders to define priorities, and ensure alignment with overall organization objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Backlog Ownership:
- Define and prioritize the product backlog for the Science Cloud Infrastructure team based on Science Cloud stakeholder’s requirements.
- Ensure that backlog items are clearly defined, well-structured, and contain appropriate acceptance criteria.
- Continuously refine and adjust priorities in line with changing customer needs, compliance requirements, and technical constraints.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with key stakeholders including Science Cloud customers, cloud engineers, platform architects, DevOps teams, and leadership to understand customer requirements, compliance requirements, and technical dependencies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the cloud infrastructure team, facilitating communication between the team and Science Cloud customers.
- Ensure alignment between product vision, customer needs, and engineering priorities.
- Facilitate discussions and workshops to gather feedback and align stakeholders.
- Ensure that the product vision and roadmap are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
- Develop and communicate a clear product roadmap and release plans for cloud infrastructure services (e.g., networking, security, storage, compute resources).
- Continuous Improvement & Agile Practices:
- Promote Agile principles within the team and encourage continuous improvement through retrospectives and feedback loops.
- Facilitate and participate in PI Planning, system demos, and other agile ceremonies.
Relevant Experience:
- At least 5 years’ experience using agile frameworks; at least 3 years’ experience in the Product Owner role.
- Desired: certifications in agile frameworks (e.g. SAFE, Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Science-domain knowledge/experience would be ideal.
Requirement:
- US Citizenship and ability to pass background checks for elevated privileges in federal government IT environments.
