2008 CREW Awards Winners

 

DENISE WORTHEN

For exceptional service in manipulating, reading, picking apart, and plotting any data set ever created in oceanography and atmospheric science. According to her customer, making scientific discoveries would be much slower without her.

 

ALEX PADGETT

For exemplary work for the Suzaku mission in response to a sudden and critical need. Alex upgraded the project pipeline to meet a critical deadline at a time when the mission would have been at serious risk.  He did so while maintaining his commitment to his other projects, and continues to go the extra mile.

 

EVAN KUNES

Evan's ATR calls him a phenomenal machinist with an eye for detail, always willing to get the job done and get it done right the first time.  He willingly supports last minute fixes and always helps fellow branch personnel find the right part or tool for the job.  Co-workers report that he has a great attitude and is more than willing to help with anything that they need.

 

KEN SIMMS

Ken has provided exceptional service for many customers at Goddard.  He provides first class printed circuit board assembly for all types of boards, and has taken the initiative to have the lab purchase important new equipment, which he has installed himself. His customer states that Ken has created a first rate assembly lab that is in high demand.

 

KIM TOLBERT

Kim has been recognized by her ATR for her 25 years of dedication to missions that have included Solar Max, CGRO, and RHESSI, of which she has proven to be an integral part.  She has been described by the SESDA II customer as an essential contributor to both the research and proposal efforts in her GSFC Division.

For customer recognition of their exceptional support and major contributions to 4 years of flawless operation of the Composite Infrared Spectrometer (CIRS) on board the highly successful Cassini mission to Saturn.  They have significantly improved the operation of CIRS and greatly enhanced its scientific return.

For customer recognition of their many accomplishments supporting the PCs in the Goddard Earth Science Data and Information Services Center.  John and Jerry have developed solutions for maintaining a secure, up-to-date desktop environment and they continue to search for new efficiencies and improved hardware and software methodologies.

Jen and Sherry have contributed significantly to the continued success of GSFC's Solar System Exploration Division (SSED) by not only providing exceptional system administration and IT security support for Apple desktops and Unix servers but also by going above and beyond their required duties to facilitate the timely implementation of Agency and Center IT mandates.
