Ever wonder what goes on at the world’s largest ground and space observatories? Such was the premise of “Around the World in 80 Telescopes”, a live 24-hour webcast on April 3, 2009 that profiled the daily activities of astronomers around the globe as they worked on some of the most advanced telescopes on Earth and in space. SESDA team members Dawn Myers and Alex Young played starring roles in this unique program as they answered questions and took viewers into the fascinating world of the successful Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) and Transition Region and Coronal Explorer (TRACE) missions that they currently support. The SOHO/TRACE webcast was so popular that it logged over 197,000 hits on YouTube.

The “Around the World in 80 Telescopes” webcast was part of the “The 100 Hours of Astronomy” program designed to bring astronomy to the public around the world.
