SA053 Linux and Desktop System Administrator
ADNET Systems, Inc is looking for an eager and motivated science enthusiast who likes working on the command line, programming (Python desirable) and Linux to become a part of the NASA Astrophysics Science Division’s onsite System Administration Team, supporting multiple projects including JWST, APOD and HEASARC at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD <https://science.gsfc.nasa.gov/astrophysics>
Responsibilities include:
- Installing, and configuration of RHEL Linux OS servers and workstations
- Assistance with Macintosh and Windows laptops and desktops
- Troubleshooting hardware, system and application problems
- Installing software packages on multiple OS systems
- Generally – communicate and coordinate with PPS and OEM support personnel as well as PPS developers
Required qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communications skills: ability to explain problems and solutions
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- Ability to self-direct and independently solve issues
- Solid understanding of Linux OS from install to optimized configuration
- Comfort with Unix shell, ability to understand and write shell scripts
- Experience with data storage concepts, architecture and application (RAID, File System organization, network file systems)
- US Citizenship is required for this position
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA
Additional desired qualifications:
- Comfort with Windows (Powershell and/or WSL2) and Mac command line
- Knowledge of python (miniforge) as well as other programming languages
- Understanding or experience with administering cloud based systems and configuration
