GD155 Network & Linux System Administrator

ADNET Systems, Inc is looking for a Network & Linux System Administrator and a highly motivated individual with at least 3+ years of Systems Administration experience to work as a part of a Systems Administration team supporting the Precipitation Processing System (http://pps.gsfc.nasa.gov/) at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing, installing, and configuration of RHEL Linux OS servers and workstations
  • Performing Linux OS updates, upgrades and installations
  • Troubleshooting hardware, system and application problems
  • Installing software packages on Linux systems
  • Maintaining network equipment and cabling
  • Configuring switches and firewalls
  • Broadcom VMware ESXi, vCenter (vSphere)
  • network firewalls (Juniper Networks), switches (Juniper Networks, Extreme Networks)
  • network cabling
  • network switches
  • Dell Networker (backup)
  • developer software support: MySQL, website enhancements
  • generally, communicate and coordinate with PPS and OEM support personnel as well as PPS developers
  • Installing, configuring and maintaining stand-alone RAID storage

Requirements:

  • Strong communications skills: ability to explain problems and solutions, both in writing and verbally
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to self-direct and independently solve issues
  • Solid understanding of Linux OS at all levels (from boot process to memory organization)
  • Proficient and comfortable with Unix shell, ability to understand and write shell scripts
  • Experience installing and managing RPM-based Linux distributions
  • Experience with data storage concepts, architecture and application (RAID, File System organization, network file systems)
  • In-depth understanding of networks on all levels (from physical to application level)
  • Knowledge of python or Perl development a plus
  • Understanding or experience with administering cloud based systems and configuration a plus
  • US Citizenship is required for this position
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 2  Investigation through NASA
