OC225 Multimedia Specialist

We are seeking a Multimedia Specialist to work within the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Earth Sciences division.

You will play a crucial role in supporting GSFC Earth Sciences’ design and production needs, presenting innovative science to stakeholders and the public in an educational and engaging manner.

This role is part of a core science support team serving the visual communications needs of the Earth Sciences division and strategic projects.

This is a hybrid role and the candidate will be expected to work on-site at GSFC two days per week, though there is the potential flexibility for remote work/telecommuting at the discretion of the NASA customer.

Duties will include but are not limited to the following.

Responsibilities

  • Produce designs for flyers, posters, infographics, brochures, and other brand materials for events and general promotional purposes;
  • Develop creative graphics to represent complex information in an engaging and visually-appealing way;
  • Provide graphic content for web, including carousels, cards, and accompanying story graphics; and
  • Ensure a consistent look and feel for all brand materials, being mindful of appropriate representation for NASA and its partners.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (LPR) required, with US residency for the past 3 consecutive years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Tier 1 Investigation through NASA.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or a related field;
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience, such as an Associate’s Degree with additional work experience;
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign;
  • Solid experience and understanding of graphic design principles, including layout, typography, and color theory;
  • Experience designing for long- and short-form content creation, digital and print;
  • Strong customer service skills;
  • A self-starter attitude with enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines; and,
  • Meticulous attention to detail with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education or experience in Earth or physical sciences;
  • Background in illustration; and,
  • Experience with 508 accessibility standards and compliance.

Applicants should provide 2-3 samples of original graphic content. At least one sample should demonstrate the ability to condense detailed or complex content into a visually-appealing format.
