Parker probe “first light”
September 21, 2018
Launched in August 2018, the Parker Solar Probe will travel closer to the Sun than any previous spacecraft and will greatly aid in our understanding of solar processes. All instruments have now been powered-on, and the four instrument suites onboard have been confirmed to be working well. A SESDA programmer participated in this “first-light” event and was responsible for retrieving, decommutating, and processing science and housekeeping telemetry from the FIELDS fluxgate magnetometer experiment. https://blogs.nasa.gov/parkersolarprobe/2018/09/19/illuminating-first-light-data-from-parker-solar-probe/
