This position is for a Web Developer in the Solar System Exploration Division and Astrophysics Science Division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. We seek a highly motivated individual with experience in developing web sites, editing content, and creating new pages for new projects
NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center nestled in the Maryland suburbs of Greenbelt is just 30 minutes from the heartbeat of America – Washington, D.C. Work in a place that pushes the envelope of science every day, yet spy a deer or a Canadian goose as you stroll the grounds of Goddard during lunch
The Web Developer will interface with Goddard scientists and users to update content and create pages for NASA instruments and projects and will maintain sites to be compliant with the NASA web framework
Responsibilities:
- Program with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and PHP to edit content on a variety of existing websites within NASA Goddard’s Solar System Exploration and Astrophysics Science Divisions.
- Communicate directly with customers to discuss and prioritize assignments.
- Work autonomously to keep all websites up to date.
Required:
- Demonstrated expertise in HTML5, WebGL, CSS, JavaScript, server-side scripting and event driven programming.
- Experience creating new websites from scratch and updating existing websites using modern practices to follow Agency standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; will work with multiple Goddard customers.
- Web Design and UI Design experience
- Ability to stay on top of multiple projects
- Comfortable working independently and autonomously
- US Citizen or Permanent Residency required
Desired:
- BS computer sciences or related field
- Experience in a civilian government-contracting environment
- Experience with Analytics
- Experience with Git
- Experience using a Linux-based OS
- Familiarity with WordPress
- Familiarity with accessible web design (Section 508 requirements)
- Attention to detail a plus
