IT009 Senior IT Security Engineer
We are looking for a full-time Senior IT Security Engineer (SSE) to support the Computational and Information Sciences and Technology Office (CISTO) at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) under NASA’s Space and Earth Science Data Analysis (SESDA) contract.
The responsibilities of this positions are as follows:Act as the main technical interface to the NASA Center for Climate Simulation (NCCS) management and leadership for contractors and civil servants. The SSE shall be responsible for the overall Information Technology (IT) Security day to day operations of the NCCS, including all maintenance of associated hardware and software (e.g., continuous diagnostics and mitigation (CDM) systems and services, firewall clusters, log analysis clusters, authentication and authorization clusters, etc.), schedules, reports, annual security audits and assessments, and meeting Federal, Agency, Center, and organizational requirements. The SSE will participate in systems development and enhancements to the NCCS environment providing security and risk assessments throughout the NCCS’ systems development lifecycle (SDLC). The SSE will perform continuous monitoring, on-going provision and analysis of metrics and log data in support to ensure smooth transitions as the NCCS evolves and customer requirements of the Science Mission Directorate (SMD) and Federal and Agency IT security requirements change (e.g., Zero Trust). The SSE will be an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) of the NCCS security plan and other System Security Plans (SSPs) determined by the government. The SSE will participate in planning, strategizing, and budgeting activities; work with High Performance Computing (HPC) and Mission peers across the Agency to ensure appropriate consideration is being done of Agency HPC assets and HPC customers
Required Qualifications:
- At least 5 years’ experience in managing IT security in a federal high-performance computing environment
- Expertise in High-End Computing (HEC) security planning and operations on-premise and in the cloud
- Demonstrated experience in NIST 800-53 versioning migrations
- Ability to work independently and with a group
- Strong verbal and written communication and critical thinking skills
- US Citizenship
