SA042 Desktop System Administrator

ADNET is currently seeking to hire a System Administrator to work at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The environment primarily consists of macOS and Windows systems, with the opportunity to work on Linux workstations and servers as part of an established team.  The team supports Earth scientist systems and servers in the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office at NASA Goddard. 

The successful candidate will implement, configure, and maintain systems, server applications and backup configurations in a dynamic production environment

They will provide exceptional support including but not limited to: 

  •  Windows systems administration and support using BigFix, CMD, PowerShell, and the GUI
  • User management, including configuring new accounts, password resets, and troubleshooting user login, profile, and permission issues
  • Provision and manage macOS and Windows systems
  • Configure and maintain backups and perform restore tasks
  • Troubleshoot operating system and application errors, and support user requests, as part of a team using a ticket system
  • Maintain standard operating procedures- and documentation on an ongoing basis 

Required qualifications:

  •  At least three years of Windows system support experience
  • Strong prioritization, problem solving, diagnosis and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience supporting computer users in a help desk environment 
  • Strong communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship 

Additional desired qualifications:

  • Experience communicating technical information to non-technical users
  • Firm understanding of TCP/IP network protocols and core network devices and components
  • Passion for technology, teamwork, overcoming challenges and providing exceptional customer service
  • Working knowledge of desktop, laptop, or server hardware component troubleshooting and replacement
  • Experience in the installation & configuration of backup software on macOS and Windows, i.e. Time Machine, Druva, etc.
  • Linux experience, including interconnections from macOS/Windows systems to Linux servers
  • Knowledge of automation tools such as Git, Puppet, Ansible, and Windows Group Policy
  • Programming knowledge in Shell scripting, PowerShell, PERL and/or Python
  • Experience with the configuration of systems in accordance with security policies or best practices.
