SA019 Linux and Desktop Systems Administrator

ADNET Systems is seeking a systems administrator (SA) to manage systems in the Atmospheric Sciences Labs in the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s Earth Science Division.  The candidate will manage Linux servers and storage, and assist with desktop/workstation systems administration tasks on MacOS, Linux and Windows computers, in a scientific and research focused environment.

Required:

  • 5 years experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux or derivatives
  • 3 years experience with desktop support, especially MacOS
  • Experience with systems configuration management and security baselines
  • Configuration management experience with configuration and deployment, especially Puppet or Ansible
  • Ability to perform Tier 1 to Tier 3 duties and communicate issues and resolutions to customers
  • Monitor and maintain server hardware and software, diagnose and replace hardware as needed
  • Scripting in one of more languages, such as: Bash, Python, Ruby, Perl
  • Knowledge of backup systems and concepts
  • Experience with supporting a spectrum of users, from desktop troubleshooting to complex server issues
  • Ability to install and configure open source and third-party commercial software.  Scientific software is preferred
  • Data Center experience: Safety, standardization, redundancy, power, networking
  • Experience with licensing and license servers, such as FlexLM
  • Highly organized with the ability to keep track of and prioritize work
  • US citizenship required

Desired:

  • Experience with FTPS servers, Web Servers, and SSL/TLS certificates
  • Understanding of Windows configuration and group policies
  • Experience with JAMF for MacOS Administration
  • Experience communicating security policies to a large and diverse community of users
  • Experience with using the Atlassian suite of products: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo
  • Understanding of and experience with documentation and publishing to centralized tools/repositories
  • Working knowledge of Git and experience with using GitHub
  • Familiarity with security benchmarks and government baselines
  • Systems administration experience at a NASA facility will be highly desirable
  • Previous experience in a scientific computing environment
  • Experience documenting technical issues and solutions for use by other system administrators and for user review
  • Experience collecting user requirements and providing recommended solutions with consideration of budget and tradeoffs
  • Previous leadership experience 
  • Experience interfacing with customers
