The Earth Science Division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator. The Division maintains desktops, laptops, and servers in a heterogeneous computing environment that includes Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems.

Duties of the position include:
• Maintaining and administering over 100 Windows desktops, laptops, and associated peripherals
• Installing and configuring application software and computer hardware
• Implementing encryption and anti-virus software to enhance system security
• Deploying critical patches and upgrades to ensure that operating systems and software applications are compliant with GSFC IT security requirements
• Enforcing computer and network access controls consistent with GSFC IT security policies
• Performing and managing computer system backups
• Supporting team members and users with diagnosing and resolving computer and network issues

The position primarily supports Windows systems, but may also require administering Linux and Mac OS computers depending upon workload. We are seeking a candidate who is well-organized, has excellent customer service skills, has strong verbal and written communications skills, can meet deadlines, and can work both independently and as a part of a team.

Experience required:
5+ years administering Windows computer systems with the following skills:
• Scripting with Power Shell
• Developing Group Policy Objectives (GPO’s)
• Knowledge of Active Directory
• Supporting acquisition of new hardware

Strong pluses:
• Familiarity with the Mac and Linux operating systems, reporting tools such as BigFix,
• IT ticketing systems, RES white listing software, and CIS benchmarks.
• Certifications in Windows system administration

Minimum Education required:
• BS in Computer or Physical Sciences
