ADNET is seeking an individual with extensive experience in High-Performance Computing (HPC), Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), and the commercial cloud environment (e.g., AWS) to support the Computational and Information Sciences and Technology Office (CISTO) in the testing, evaluation, comparison, and documentation of relevant technology solutions to advance the use of new and emerging technologies in the science community. CISTO is located at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Maryland and provides high-end information technology systems and services for science, including assessment and evaluation of new information technologies, hardware, and software.

The position will initially require part-time (~50%) work but may expand to full-time.


  • Work with CISTO’s Science Managed Cloud Environment (SMCE) team to set up HPC environments within AWS and run relevant benchmarks
  • Support the exploration of emerging systems, including hardware and software, for use in AI/ML applications
  • Explore the use of high-performance object storage hardware/software solutions for use within CISTO
  • Perform evaluations of emerging technologies, including closer integration of high-performance computing with edge computing and modeling, emulation of full-physics models using machine learning models, alternative operating systems and code development capabilities, automation and workflows

Required Qualifications

  • US citizenship
  • 10+ years of experience with scientific high-performance computing
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other commercial cloud environments like Microsoft Azure and Google
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML)
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in the NASA/GSFC computing environment
  • Relevant certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant scientific, technical, or engineering field
