We are seeking a Web Developer to support the Space Physics Data Facility (SPDF, https://spdf.gsfc.nasa.gov) at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD with developing static and dynamic web sites, editing content, and creating new pages for new projects. The Web Developer will interface with scientists to redesign existing SPDF web sites to become more modern and compliant with the latest NASA web framework.  We are seeking a candidate with strong written and oral communication skills, and who can work independently and collaboratively with a large multi-disciplinary team, learn new technologies as needed, and adjust to changing task requirements.

Duties:

  • Redesign and update existing static web sites to use HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
  • Gather and analyze user and customer requirements, and translate them into architectural decisions at the project and implementation layer.
  • Ensure responsive design, section 508 accessibility, and NASA IT security compliance.

Experience (at least 1 year):

  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • UI design.
  • Source version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Static site generation tools.
  • Linux operating systems. 

Desired Experience:

  • Libraries/Environments: Plotly, ReactJS, Node.js.
  • RESTful web services.
  • Working in a civilian government-contracting environment.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field. (Equivalent work experience will be considered).
