HP047 Instrument Administration Specialist

The Heliophysics Science Division at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD is seeking an Instrument Administration Specialist to work directly with engineers and scientists in collaboration to develop and operate science instruments. The qualified candidate must have strong organizational and communication skills, take initiative as needed, and be capable of working independently and as part of a team.  

Specific Tasks:

  • Maintain and develop group online collaboration tools
  • Schedule and track laboratory facility usage
  • Track and maintain project documentation including but not limited to material usage, purchases, and safety and compliance
  • Coordinate with external vendors and NASA to support project procurements
  • Assist with instrument schedule development, tracking, and coordination between projects
  • Capture meeting minutes and action items as needed
  • Assist with meeting agenda and slide template development as needed
  • Support proposal efforts for new instrument and mission concepts as needed
  • Support statement of work formulation and task template development
  • Manage development of group presentations

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Experience leading online collaboration tools such as Wikis and ticketing systems
  • Experience with NASA flight processes and mission development lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Project)
  • Experience with version control systems and configuration management
  • Must be familiar with formulations of statements of works and task statements

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Confluence wiki and JIRA ticketing systems
  • Experience with NASA NPR 7120.5 (NASA Space Flight Program and Project Management Requirements)
  • Experience with NASA procurement processes

 Education:  Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of work experience in an instrument development or mission operations environment  

US citizenship or Permanent Residence is required
