HP037 Data Technician, Part Time

ADNET Systems Inc. is seeking a Data Technician to support the Solar Physics Laboratory at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD.  The position involves testing and implementing numerical simulation software for the corona and solar wind that is being developed at GSFC.

The position is ideally suited for a college undergraduate who is interested in gaining experience developing software for scientific research. The position is initially part-time (10 hours per week), but can be extended to full-time during summer months.

Duties:

  • Refactoring and extending the capabilities of existing software
  • Transitioning the software from its current development phase to a stable operational release version
  • Integrating the software with existing modeling libraries
  • Participating in code reviews with collaborators

Experience:

  • 1+ years writing, editing, and testing code in Python
  • 1+ years using modern software version control systems (e.g. Git)
  • Previous experience working at NASA as a student intern is a plus

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in BS in Computer Sciences, Astronomy, or equivalent degree

US Citizenship or Permanent Residence is required
