We are seeking a Junior Science Education Specialist who will assist with disseminating the work of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center staff and projects to a variety of education audiences. In this entry-level position, you will start your science education career supporting Goddard’s award-winning Afterschool Universe and NASA Family Science Night informal education programs. You will learn from scientists and seasoned educators as you work behind-the-scenes to help these programs grow and reach new audiences.


  • Create and adapt NASA educational activities to reach specific audiences
  • Prepare materials for pilot testing and release
  • Manage physical and online assets
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of educator professional development events


  • Bachelor’s Degree (1-2 years since graduation) in one of the following:
    • Astrophysics or Space Sciences or
    • Education, with some coursework in science
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in communicating science with non-scientists
  • Ability to work independently as well as within inter-disciplinary teams
  • Exemplary organizational skills and careful attention to detail
  • Time management skills to balance multiple projects at once
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in working with internal collaborators and external customers
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Must Be US citizen or Greencard holder

Desired Experience:

  • Graphic design and design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud)
  • Writing, copy-editing, and/or proof-reading
  • Planning, implementing, or working in education and/or public engagement events
