Want an exciting career at NASA and help the public to better understand our Earth through science?

This position is located at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.

NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, nestled in the Maryland suburbs of Greenbelt, is just 30 minutes from the heartbeat of America – Washington, D.C. Now you can have it all, the nightlife, museums, great food and theatre. The purpose of this task is to provide science computing support to the ICESat-2 Project Science Office. Some specific tasks are to assist the project scientists in developing and testing algorithms to evaluate the pre- and post-launch ICESat-2 data products, provide assistance to the ICESat-2 Science Definition Team in accessing and using the ICESat-2 pre- and post-launch data products. The products include low level (Level 1b) data products all the way up to the highest level (Level 3b) gridded data products for land, ocean, land ice, sea ice, inland water and atmospheric science.

The task requires a significant level of independent algorithm and code development, and also significant interaction across the ~20 person project science office group. The task will also require working with existing code, such as the FORTRAN to generate the ICESat-2 Standard Data Products.
