AP075 Scientific Software Developer

Are you ready for an exciting new career working at NASA? Come work side by side with top scientists developing software to help analyze and process high-energy astrophysics data? The tools you will help develop will be used by data analysts and researchers around the globe as well as benefit public and private educational organizations (high schools and Universities).

NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, nestled in the Maryland suburbs of Greenbelt, is just 30 minutes from the heartbeat of America – Washington, D.C. Now you can have it all – the nightlife, museums, great food and theatre, while working at a place that pushes the envelope of science every day, yet spy a deer or a Canada Goose, as you stroll the grounds of Goddard during lunch.

We are seeking a Scientific Software Developer with 3-12 years of experience to join the staff at NASA/GSFC’s Astrophysics Science Division (ASD).  ASD supports a broad program of research in astronomy, astrophysics, and fundamental physics. Specific duties of this position include support for development and maintenance of web-based tools to browse, retrieve and examine the HEASARC’s metadata and data holdings in high energy Astrophysics and ancillary holdings through all observational domains.  Access is supported at a range of levels from highly interactive web pages to API’s that enable users to integrate HEASARC capabilities within their own frameworks programmatically.
